Strolling through the market is one of the little pleasures of summer; we love wandering among the colorful stalls, the tempting flavors, and the intoxicating smells. Are you on vacation here this summer and wondering which are the best markets in Gruissan to stock up on regional products and souvenirs? Look no further, we've got the best tips! Pack your basket, and let's go for a week of local markets.

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday
Village Market
Our epicurean week begins with the village market. Place Gibert attracts merchants and visitors, both holidaymakers and locals, all year round. Of course, when the tramontane blows cold in the winter months, there are fewer of us and we meet up with regulars to fill our shopping bags, stock up on vegetables and gossip! From spring onwards, the square is no longer big enough to accommodate all these people and the market spreads out towards the Sablou, behind the post office, where you'll find sellers of clothing, bags and accessories of all kinds.
In the alleyways, we are greeted from the Grand'rue by the colorful stalls. Have you ever tasted the goat cheeses produced by Blandine? A treat! And to accompany this delicious dish, how about a jar of honey from Olivier, the beekeeper? A "1 kilo, good weight!" resounds, this seller will give you a few extra apricots "because you are nice to me" he says in his sing-song accent!
During a stroll through the markets of Gruissan, you will experience the authenticity of our southern traditions.
Our advice: in addition to your visit to the Gruissan market, take a trip to the Fish Market to supply you with fresh fish, straight from the water of our ponds or the sea!

Thursday
Ayguades Market
Les Ayguades is a neighborhood synonymous with vacations, swimming, and relaxation... But not only that! Every Thursday morning between the end of June and mid-September, people meet along Avenue de la Felouque to stroll among the local produce vendors, jewelry designers, and other artisans. The delicious smell of grilled chicken reaches your nose, but already, your gaze is drawn to that little dress, which would be so perfect for tonight's restaurant outing... Treat yourself, it's vacation time!
What if we also took the opportunity to bring back some local gifts and souvenirs? Like soaps made in Gruissan, for example? We also stock up on delicious products to cook at home or at the campsite for fresh, seasonal salads. The atmosphere of this market is relaxed, family-friendly, and hassle-free, reflecting the Ayguades neighborhood, which regulars love for its simplicity.

Our advice: the market stretches out in length, so make sure you go back and forth to make sure you don't miss anything!

Friday
Sundial Market
This morning, the little ones want to go to the beach and the adults prefer to stroll around the market? No problem, a little trip to the Grazel market will reconcile everyone! We stroll between the colorful stalls on the promenade and the Place du Cadran Solaire, with in the background, right next door, the Grazel beach and its sand which will soon be home to the children's castles... The small buildings of the port frame this pretty square with Mediterranean colors and the neighborhood's regulars meet between a coffee and an aperitif to do their shopping.
Like many merchants and producers, Fabien welcomes you to discover his local fruits and vegetables: Aude, PO, Hérault, here, you won't find exotic fruits but regional, fresh, short circuit. A little further, a shaded stall offers a multitude of small sausages with all different flavors. The choice is too hard, you give in and buy a big bag, which will undoubtedly be half devoured by the time you get home!

Our tip: a coffee break is a must! Sheltered from the wind, the café and restaurant terraces of Place du Cadran Solaire are the perfect spot to soak up the Mediterranean dolce vita atmosphere. The friendly shopkeepers will give you the warmest welcome!

Sunday
Chalet Market
You discovered this neighborhood at the Tuesday evening guinguette, or even on occasion great swimming days, and you decide to return there this Sunday morning to live a different experience. The neighborhood reveals itself in a different light, you stroll there without worrying about traffic since the pedestrian is king, you go from an olive oil producer's stall to a lavender sachet stand. Sellers of local specialties, artisanal souvenirs and regional producers all attract you to make you discover and taste their products.
Who said the Gruissan markets were only for seniors? Here, Elsa, a young designer, is exhibiting colorful t-shirts that are a hit on TikTok! Before you leave, stock up on local beer at the LA MER À BIRE BREWERYAntoine and Alain brew their beer as a family, just a stone's throw from here, in the neighborhood. And it's with your arms full of gifts and your head full of memories that you leave this market, which is undoubtedly now one of your must-sees in Gruissan!
Our tip: If you're feeling peckish at the end of the morning, check out the wide selection offered by the caterer, an institution at Les Chalets! We bet you won't leave empty-handed? Paella, squid, stuffed tomatoes, everything is tempting and triggers a sudden... laziness to cook!
