Called "Les Îlots de Gruissan", this nautical establishment made up of 35 LodgeBoats facing the open sea, is a unique project in France which was born in Occitanie, in Gruissan. A bet taken by the Tourist Office and its marina to strengthen the attractiveness of the destination by offering an innovative offer never seen on the French coast.

An ambitious project

Port dynamics, the spearhead of the Gruissan Tourist Office. For Jean-Claude MÉRIC, General Manager of the Tourist Office of Gruissan, and the private company Alliance Plaisance in charge of the project, it was a question of creating in the Port of Gruissan a new activity which would be integrated within the framework of the economic dynamic already initiated by the city.

Namely that the port of Gruissan represents 40% of the overall budget of the Tourist Office and achieved € 3 in turnover in 800. This large-scale system makes Gruissan the only seaside resort in France equipped with of these floating habitats and the first in Europe in terms of volume. With the mooring of LodgeBoats, the City is reinventing its marina and welcoming a new mode of sustainable tourism.

Made in France

100% French accommodation with a strong “Occitanian” dominance The Gruissan Tourist Office turned to Alliance Plaisance, a company based in Sète, for the realization of this ambitious project. Thus, these LodgeBoats were imagined and designed by the Sétoise company and then manufactured by French manufacturers: Chalet FABRE in Rodez for the habitat, specialized in the construction of Modular Chalets, and Mattalu, a Nantes company, for the submerged part of the Lodgeboats, the connection of waste water and certification for navigation.

An experience in unusual accommodation which should seduce tourists and which suggests some unforgettable sunrises in Gruissan…
