SALVADOR DALÍ, AN UNUSUAL GENIUS…
Once again, thanks to the cultural commitment of the City of Gruissan, the association Les Amis de 349 Gallery and its network of passionate collectors present an exceptional exhibition around the Catalan artist, the brilliant Salvador DALÍ.
Born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Catalonia, and neighboring France, DALÍ showed a particular gift for painting from his youth. Encouraged by his mother, he became, after meeting Picasso in Paris in 1926, then introduced by Joan Miro to André Breton in 1929, the essential artist that the whole world knows. Breaking with the surrealists for his egocentrism, he decided to distance himself from them with Gala, his muse and the woman of his whole life. André Breton criticized him harshly to the point of nicknaming him "Avida Dollars", an unkind anagram of Salvador DALÍ... Close to many artistic movements, intelligent, curious about all the human sciences and mysticism, this artist, undoubtedly the most gifted of his generation, remains despite everything, misunderstood.
Thanks to the collections loaned by a few enthusiasts, this exhibition demonstrates the incredible talent of Salvador DALÍ in all genres, including cinema and advertising.
