“Gruissan my loves, I have been thinking of you for almost always”, with these words borrowed from Charles TRENET a few years earlier, here we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Port Gruissan station! Gruissan, the youngest of the Mission Racine seaside resorts, has all the makings of a great one and has developed by combining authenticity and modernity.

A rewarded architectural bias

50 years ago, Gruissan was the last of the seaside resorts to emerge from the sand on the directives of the Racine Mission. This is the largest urbanization project in France and Europe. General de Gaulle wanted to give the Languedoc coast the tourist appeal it lacked. The first stone of Port Gruissan was laid in December 1973.

The bold architecture of the port, its buildings dominating the main basin and the Harbor Master's Office, was entrusted to Raymond GLEIZE – Grand Prix de Rome in 1944 – and Édouard HARTANÉ. Its main characteristic remains its vaults, explosive for the time. This innovative roof would have the advantage of reducing the impact of solar radiation. Visionary, the choice of architect Raymond GLEIZE adapts to the rise in temperatures that we are experiencing. Gruissan, and its marina, is a decidedly timeless seaside resort.

XNUMXth century heritage

The “1999th Century Heritage” label, created in 2011 by the Ministry of Culture, aims to highlight sites remarkable for their architecture and town planning. The buildings in the basin of honor as well as the Harbor Master's Office obtained this label in XNUMX for their construction as part of the Racine Mission.

Make the blue economy a priority

This is the direction taken by the Gruissan Tourist Office and its marina to strengthen the attractiveness of the destination. Please note that the port of Gruissan and its nautical center represent 50% of the overall budget of the Tourist Office and achieved €4 excluding tax in turnover in 500.
This year, the port of Gruissan is inaugurating its latest creation, the island of freshness. This outdoor reception area offers pedestrians and cyclists a shaded and refreshing stopover.

ILOTS DE GRUISSAN

From innovation to innovation

In 2014, the port of Gruissan acquired an eco-station. The latter offers electric vehicles for rental: Fiat 500 latest generation, mountain bikes. In 2021, a very ambitious project was born. Unusual tourist accommodation unique in France has been designed in the heart of the port of Gruissan. 35 eco-responsible lodgeboats moored in the outer port, offering a breathtaking view of the sunrise overlooking the sea. The commercial success is total with 97% annual occupancy rate.

The Port of Gruissan in a few figures:

  • 70 tourist beds for 000 inhabitants per year,
  • 1620 rings per year for boaters,
  • Investment of €760 over 000 years for digitalization and promotion,
  • 16 employees at the Gruissan Harbor Master’s Office,
